I’m not gonna lie, the end of 2013 was hard. Sometimes life can leave you feeling like you’re in a bowling alley, only you’re the pins and you keep being knocked off your feet, only to be positioned back in the firing line. Yes, that pretty much describes my last two months. However, I’ve decided that 2014 is going to be awesome, and I’m not going to stay put and wallow in self-pity. Nup! 2014 is my year to shine!
I have plans, big plans, and circumstances can go take a leap because my word for 2014 is “growth!”
How about you?
It’s an important question because the answer could determine the direction you take with your marketing and branding.
I want to be known as a champion of solo business content marketing! My goal for 2014 is to inspire solo business entrepreneurs to take action and whip their marketing into shape so they can spend less time working in their business, and less money per lead.
Now, I hesitated to write this blog post because, well, I’m sensitive about the whole self-promotion thing, and I don’t want you to think I’m about to spam you, so let me make it clear, I’m sharing this to keep you informed about what my plans are and to share with you what I’ve learned from YOUR feedback in the past year because I want to be accountable. It’s important for me to put it in writing and publicly. So, here goes!
Here’s how I’m going to help solo businesses in 2014 (and you can hold me to it)
By running the Micro Business Bootcamp again!
This program, which helps micro businesses turn around their business performance in just three weeks, was one of my most popular in 2013. This year, I’m switching to a teleseminar platform to make the program even more accessible, and I also plan on breaking free from the screen and running the bootcamp as a one day live event!
By running my new Content Marketing Mentoring Program for Small and Solo Business.
The program I’ve run for the past two years is full of rich, powerful content marketing wisdom for small businesses, but it’s more suited for advanced marketing professionals than DIY marketers. So, after listening to feedback on my old program, I have put it through the ringer, squeezed it and turned it into an easy-to-follow, step-by-step mentoring program for DIY marketers. I will still run the other program, but it will be for advanced marketers only, and will form the basis for them to start teaching my methodology to their clients.
By launching my new book (a real book that goes thud on the floor), Your Brilliant Un-Career: How to startup your own brilliant business and step off the corporate ladder for life.
This book is specifically aimed at women corporate escapees who want to start their own businesses or revive ones that are floundering. Blokes, you’re welcome to read it too, but I really want to inspire thousands of other women to take their destiny into their own hands in 2014! We need all the encouragement we can get. Stay tuned for launch date!
By officially launching The Likeability Company.
This is a project that I have been slaving away on for the past year and it is finally coming to fruition! It’s been challenging working with a team of entrepreneurs, especially given that I’ve worked for myself for the past four years, but crickey has it been fun, and so, so rewarding! This project is set to rock the world of small business social media marketing and we are planning nothing less than to be the go-to resource for small business social media community building!
By guest blogging on high profile websites and by speaking at small business and entrepreneur events and conferences!
In 2013 I achieved my goal of “visibility” in a big way by guest blogging, and by making the finalist round in 4 awards, including the prestigious Women in Technology Awards and the MarketingProfs Bright Bulb Awards! In 2014 I’m going to ramp this up. I am determined not to allow crappy life circumstances to rule my life. If I can create a viable solo business on the back of loss, abuse, a marriage breakup, illness, depression and carwrecks, so can you, and I want to use every opportunity that comes my way to inspire and motivate you to not let circumstances dictate your worth, value and dreams. So, I’ve added a speaker page to my website and will work on this aspect of my business in 2014.
By continuing to collaborate with awesome people and organisations doing brilliant things for solo entrepreneurs!
So, that’s my list for 2014!
What’s yours? What do you want to be known for? What steps are you taking to make that happen?
As always, if you’ve decided it’s time to step up and take action on your marketing, you know where to find me. I’m pumped! Let’s do it 2014!
Leave a comment and share what you want to achieve in 2014! Happy New Year!
