Today, I am doing something I haven’t done before: participating in a blog tour. Blog tours are a great way to share about a new book or program launch. I really like this book by Stacey Myers. It’s practical and actionable. I talk with Stacey about her 30 Daily Doables project on the Your Brilliant Un-Career Podcast show. You can listen to her interview here.

Today is day 2 of our ‘Build Your List with 30 Daily Doables‘ Blog Tour. Yesterday’s doable was all about knowing who your ideal client is. It is definitely worth spending a few minutes reading that post.

Today is all about deciding on a free giveaway – that gift you are going to give people, in exchange for their details.
The key thing is to make sure that your opt-ins are, in some way, relevant to the service or products that you provide (or are going to provide if you are just starting out). If you plan on teaching people how to use Twitter then having a free opt-in that teaches people how to get more likes on Facebook, probably isn’t the best way to go. If you are teaching people about time management, then a checklist that would support them in prioritizing their workflow would be something very appropriate and appreciated.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t know exactly what the course or service is that you are going to provide, as long as you have a general idea in which direction you are moving. It just has to be relevant to your niche. You may not ever intend to offer your own products or services. You might have decided that you are going to offer affiliate products instead. That is also a great strategy, referred to as Affiliate Marketing! For example, if you intend to promote a product on how to have a happy marriage, you could create an opt-in about the 10 most romantic dates you can have with your spouse. That would be a relevant topic for your audience.
Stuck for ideas? Have a look at what other people in your niche are giving away – don’t copy it, but use it to help you get your own ideas. Look at which blog articles are the most popular, or go to Amazon and have a look at which books are selling the most.
In this video Stacey shows you how, in about 7 minutes, you can have endless ideas for your opt in offers.
How are you coming up with ideas for your free offers? We would love to hear in the comments section below. (Just by leaving a relevant comment you can receive extra entries into the contest ;-))
